As for the American Tap Room, manager Jon Warren said that April 25 must
have been a slow night, with the kitchen
shutting down early. He sends his apologies.
Your article “Food & Whine” in the May/
June issue says that Yelp has an automated review filter to weed out fake or
malicious reviews, though it admits the
system isn’t perfect. Far from it. I can’t
seem to notice any difference between
the filtered reviews supposed to be fake
or malicious and the acceptable ones in
terms of quality or positive/negative balance. In fact, Yelp has filtered out every
one of my reviews no matter how well or
ill I wrote. It mattered not if I reviewed
an auto dealer or a restaurant, in Florida or in Maryland. I certainly can’t be
on the take of every place I reviewed. I
think I won’t bother reviewing anymore
for Yelp or reading any of its reviews.
Yanique Redwood, president and CEO
of the Consumer Health Foundation in
Washington, D.C., attended the Georgia
Institute of Technology as an undergraduate. The wrong institution was mentioned in the story about her in “The
Up-and-Comers” in the May/June 2013
issue of the magazine.
In the January/February 2013 “Best of
Bethesda,” the town of Garrett Park was
singled out as the editors’ pick for the
“Neighborhood with the Most Charm.”
The story mentioned an August crab
feast, which is indeed held there. However, the story should have noted that it’s
only open to members of the town pool. ■
