MEDICAL CENTER
MedStar Montgomery Medical Center is
a 138-bed hospital offering a full range
of services in Olney. The hospital has
41 private treatment rooms, a separate
pediatric center and a fast-track system
that aims to have noncritical-care patients
in and out the door within 90 minutes.
MedStar Montgomery’s stroke and chest
pain centers have earned accreditations
from the Society of Cardiovascular
Patient Care and The Joint Commission, a
credentialing body for health care facilities.
MedStar Montgomery has also received
the Delmarva Foundation’s Excellence
Award for Quality Improvement for four
consecutive years.
The hospital offers comprehensive
addiction and mental health treatment
services for adolescents and adults, and
a self-contained, 24-hour crisis evaluation
unit for behavioral health patients in its
emergency department.
Opened in 1918, the hospital was known
as Montgomery General Hospital until
it merged in 2008 with MedStar Health,
a regional health system that includes
MedStar Washington Hospital Center and
MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

HOLY CROSS HOSPITAL
A teaching hospital that serves residents
of both Montgomery and Prince George’s
counties, Holy Cross Hospital offers a full
range of services, with an emphasis on
women’s and infant health, innovative senior
care, surgery, neuroscience and cancer.
The hospital, a 423-bed facility that
cares for 30,000 inpatients per year at its
location just outside the Beltway in Silver
Spring, is one of the largest in Maryland.
Holy Cross is the only hospital in Maryland
and Washington, D.C., to be named a
“Top Performer on Key Quality Measures”
by The Joint Commission, the national
accrediting organization for health care
facilities for four adult measures,
for four consecutive years.
More babies are born at Holy Cross
Hospital than at any other hospital in the
state. The hospital also has a Seniors
Emergency Center, a dedicated space for
older patients experiencing emergencies that
aren’t life-threatening, the first of its kind
in the nation. The neuroscience program
provides expertise in the care of complex
brain and spine disorders, including an
advanced Primary Stroke Center.
Founded by the Sisters of the Holy

GERMANTOWN HOSPITAL
The first new hospital in Montgomery
County in 35 years, Holy Cross Germantown
Hospital opened the doors of its
237,000-square-foot, six-story facility in
October 2014 with 93 beds and a full-service emergency department. A member
of the Holy Cross Health system, the
hospital’s inpatient rooms are all private,
and there is open visitation 24 hours a day.
