FAMILIES IN MONTGOMERY
County don’t have to rely on
playgrounds and parks to keep their
children occupied, although we do
have plenty of great places to play.
The county offers a multitude of
venues and organizations geared just
to children, from the Puppet Co. and
Adventure Theatre MTC in Glen Echo
Park, to Imagination Stage and the Be
With Me Playseum in Bethesda, to the
array of great summer camps.
Several organizations offer a variety
of dance classes. Among them, the
Maryland Youth Ballet in downtown Silver
Spring offers a program for dancers
between ages 2 and 20 and the Culkin
School of Traditional Irish Dance offers
both a short-term introductory program
and a yearlong program.
If you don’t feel like chasing
butterflies in the warmer months at
the butterfly and caterpillar exhibit
at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton
Regional Park, you can go to story time
under the giant sycamore at Locust
Grove Nature Center in Bethesda, catch
a ride on a streetcar at the National
Capital Trolley Museum in Silver Spring,
or take a spin on the historic Dentzel
Carousel in Glen Echo Park.
And when it comes time for
organized sports, families have a
variety of leagues and associations
to choose from, catering to almost all
ages and capabilities.
Kids and adults alike
enjoy performances at
Adventure Theatre MTC
in Glen Echo Park.
